The M48 Severn Bridge and the M4 Second Severn Crossing span the Severn Estuary at Aust and Rogiet respectively and used by in excess of 25 million vehicles each year.
Severn River Crossing PLC is responsible for management, maintenance oversight and day to day operation of the two bridges including tolling.
Advance notification of maintenance that causes lane restrictions are provided on Maintenance and Closures page. A summary of this information is as follows:There are currently 2 advisory notices for lane closures on the M48 Severn Bridge.

|Tax Exempt Vehicles||12th September 2014||
Currently the Severn Bridges allow free passage to those that have Tax Exempt vehicles if those vehicles are used for the transport of registered disabled and this is reflected on the Tax Disc. From 1st October 2014 the DVLA will no longer be issuing Tax Discs.
If you wish to continue claiming free passage you will be required to either show your tax disc, if it is still in date, or your V5C form proving that your vehicle is tax exempt because it states Disabled in the Taxation Class.
There will be no change for those that are in possession of a valid EU Personal Blue Badge.
Failure to produce the relevant documentation at the time of crossing will result in the appropriate Toll being levied.
|Automatic Coin Machine Lanes Rogiet and Aust Toll Plaza||1st September 2014||
Essential Changes: With effect from the 29th September 2014, SRC will no longer operate the coin only (Automated) payment method for car only vehicles.
Customers wishing to pay the toll using Cash/Coins will need to use the Staffed Booths. The lanes previously used for automatic coin payment will now be used to take Credit/Debit Card Payments for Cars Only. All other Toll Booth lanes remain unaffected.
